The container giant Hapag-Lloyd is our “Carrier of the Year 2017”. In the Hellmann internal ranking of the best international seafreight carriers, the Hamburg based shipping company prevailed under the FCL carriers against CMA-CGM and MOL, which are among the winners of the coveted Hellmann Award for the first time in 2017. As in previous years, the WorldWide Alliance won among the LCL carriers.
On December 13, 2017, Jost Hellmann, Bart de Vries, Jochen Freese, Gunnar Haid, Joerg Boekhoff and Michael Amri jointly presented the “Carrier of the Year Award 2017” to the FCL and LCL Carrier, who offered us the best possible performance last year. The award ceremony for the Hellmann Awards took place for the eleventh time in a row in 2017 and is virtually unique in our industry. The prize is highly appreciated by both our ocean freight carriers and our partners.
“With the award, we want to express our respect and our great appreciation for the support and partnership with the various carriers. We believe this approach helps us stand out as a company from our competitors. The excellent feedback we receive each year clearly confirms this.”Michael Amri, Blobal Head of Seafreight
To determine the laureates, another survey was conducted last year involving more than 200 employees and partners worldwide. A number of key performance indicators were requested, which provide detailed information on the performance data of all carriers, and thus, enable an objective assessment. These indicators included: the number of services, service levels, price (local and central), IT connectivity, top-level management contact (local, regional and global), and proactivity / reactivity in finding solutions. Hapag-Lloyd was able to score points among the FCL carriers, in particular due to their service during the booking process and sea transportation, in the availability of containers, the fast and substantial response times as well as the price-performance ratio. In the category of LCL Carrier, the WorldWide Alliance continued its winning streak of the recent years and won the award for the tenth consecutive time.
With the award, we want to express our respect and our great appreciation for the support and partnership with the various carriers. We believe this approach helps us stand out as a company from our competitors. The excellent feedback we receive each year clearly confirms this. Hellmann also organizes similar events in other regions worldwide where regional trophies are awarded. In order not to anticipate the surprise here, we leave it to the respective regional sea freight management to announce their local titleholders in due course.
