At Hellmann Beverage Logistics in Dover in the UK we are entering an especially busy time. As we enter a critical period, we are receiving wines in all parts of the world for various beer and wine competitions. Hellmann handles the logistics requirements for the International Wine Challenge, International Wine and Spirit Competition, Decanter and the Australian International Beer Awards. This year we have expanded on these competitions to also include the Good Beer Week, London Wine Competition as well as the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships.

With the last dates for receiving wine being reached in the coming weeks we expect to be receiving wines from approximately 12,000 wineries covering the International Wine Challenge, International Wine and Spirit Competition, Decanter.  This is a significant logistics challenge to ensure that the world wines that will be judged as some of the best in the world are received in more than 40 countries worldwide and transported by road, air and sea to the IWC , IWSC, and Decanter in London for tasting and judging by the world’s most prestigious wine experts.

Not only does this require seamless logistics solution, however we also have to ensure to arrange and comply with the customs formalities at both origin and destination in order to ensure timely delivery of wines for tasting.

Another of the new events is Australia Good Beer week; with some twenty UK brewers entering this event this year Hellmann will arrange the temperature controlled solution for these entrants to the event in Melbourne, Australia. This event has grown over the last eight years and Hellmann is honoured to be involved in providing a solution for UK brewers to participate and hope to be playing a larger role in years to come.

It is Australia’s preeminent beer event, one that has inspired smaller imitators interstate and in New Zealand, and is well placed to achieve its founders’ stated goal of establishing the leading beer festival in the Asia Pacific region. It is the biggest single platform for local brewers and beer businesses to showcase themselves to a broad audience and also plays host to the Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA) and the three-day GABS Beer, Cider, Food & Festival at the Royal Exhibition Building.
