Hellmann India has been provided the Good Distribution Practices (GDP) certification for Pharmaceutical Industry process by SGS. The certificate issued by the independent institute SGS is the result of a comprehensive auditing process launched by Shubhendu Das, Managing Director Hellmann India, in June 2018 to prove full compliance with the Pharma Industry’s requirements within the operational processes of the Hellmann Healthcare industry solution.
The GDP certification is available with very limited international logistics providers in India and therefore it will be a valuable USP for potential customers and reinforce Hellmann’s position with existing customers from the Pharma Industry. It sets the minimum standards and expectations required by Hellmann India sites working with and for the Healthcare sector to comply with GDP and GTP (Good Trading Practices) directives.
The internal auditing project was led by Harish Rao, QHSE Management India, along with the support of Siddhartha Mathur, Global QHSE Management, Sunil Pandya, General Manager Healthcare/Pharma, and Junaid Zakir they formed a robust quality team across India to run and implement the GDP project. The scope of the project included: Management of international Freight Forwarding (air freight, sea freight and customs clearance) as well as activities for ambient and temperature controlled pharmaceutical products (within ranges of 2° – 8° C and 15° – 25° C).
The respective audit standards followed the WHO GTD Annex 5, 957 2010 and WHO GDTP Annex 6, TRS 996, 2016 guidelines. All departments (except finance and contract logistics) were audited in the process. The audit team conducted a process-based audit focusing on all significant aspects/risks/objectives. The audit methods used were interviews, observation of activities and review of documentation and records.
Eventually, the audits were successfully completed with nil non-conformity and Hellmann India was recommended for the GDP certification which was finally awarded on October 31, 2018 presented by SGS – Mr. Arup Jana (National Head – Certification and Business Enhancement). The GDP certificate was received by Mr. Shubhendu Das in presence of Mr. Bart De Vries, Global COO – Air & Sea Freight Management and Mr. Madhav Kurup, Regional CEO – MENASA.
