New routes for new markets: On June 1, 2019, Hellmann established a new Control Tower in Budapest for international rail transports between China and Hungary. From the Hungarian capital, the Osnabrück-based full-service logistics provider intends to strategically expand its cargo service in the region of Austria, Hungary, and Romania. The first FCL and LCL shipments to Budapest can already be booked. The aim is to offer a complete weekly block train in the medium term.
The new connection from Xi’an in Central China to Budapest takes 19 days from terminal to terminal and, thus, two days more than to the Polish city of Małaszewicze. However, with optimized transit times for on-carriage, the transports can be organized cost-effectively and are therefore absolutely competitive compared to the traditional alternatives.
The new service is of particular interest to manufacturing companies in the automotive industry who import parts and raw materials from China and assemble them locally. But manufacturers of consumer electronics and pharmaceutical products will also benefit from the new connection to the Asian production areas.

The new connection to Hungary is another step for Hellmann to further expand our service on the Iron Silk Road. Only recently we signed a letter of intent with UTLC ERA to expand rail capacity between Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Russia.
